Ojai is one of the world's most special places. Internationally known as a sacred place of exceptional beauty and spiritual significance, Ojai is a unique valley wrapped in the arms of the Los Padres National Forrest about 80 miles north of Los Angeles and 10 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. It's considered by many, a spiritual “hot spot” because it's one of the few places on earth where the mountains run in both directions, creating a geographical vortex, a gateway to the spirit world, much like Sedona, Az. and Katmandu. Perhaps the last intact Mediterranean ecosystem in Southern California, Ojai is often compared to Tuscany. The hills above town are covered with sage, chaparral, oaks and lavender.

The name Ojai (pronounced O-HIGH) is derived from the Chumash word “Awhai”. The word is thought to mean “The Nest” or “The Moon” and Ojai is often called “The Valley of the Moon”. It is thought the Chumash declared the Ojai Valley sacred .The surrounding mountains are capped by Topa Topa, the highest peak, which soars from near sea level to a height of 6,244 feet. At sunset, Topa Topa’s rocky westward face often catches a spectacular rosy glow creating the famous ” Illuminating Pink Moment”.
